Daniel B. Oerther, PhD, PE, BCEE  joined the faculty of the Missouri University of Science and Technology in 2010 after serving on the faculty of the University of Cincinnati for ten years   Dan describes himself as an American social entrepreneur and Professor of Environmental Engineering solving WaSH, food and nutrition security, and extreme poverty


Board Certified by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists, and licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio, Dan earned a B.A. in Biology and a B.S. in Environmental Engineering both from Northwestern University   He also holds a M.S. in Environmental Engineering and an earned Doctorate in Environmental Engineering both from the University of Illinois   Dan has completed additional graduate work in Microbial Ecology (Marine Biology Laboratory), Public Health (Bloomberg School at Johns Hopkins), and Public Administration (Indiana University)   Dan is an internationally recognized scholar for his work in environmental biotechnology and sustainable development with more than 100 peer reviewed publications, numerous articles in the popular press and invited oral presentations, and more than 50 funded research projects worth nearly $20 million.
