The Current Students Page Belongs To You

The Current Students page is designed to be a site that is for and about you, the students of Missouri S&T.  As we move forward in improving this site, this page will serve as way to inform you of how you can contribute to the site.

The Faces of Missouri S&T

This is the slide show at the top of the page.  The slide show uses an RSS feed from the Flickr group "The Faces of Missouri S&T" to feed images into the slide show.  Anyone with an account on Flickr can join the group and begin contributing pictures that will show up on the Current Students Site.  The group is moderated and all images have to be approved before they will show up.  There are a couple of rules you have to agree to when joining the group.  The rules and moderation are in place to allow us to give you control of the content while still maintaining the integrity of the message we are sending about life at Missouri S&T.  In this way, we can let you contribute without fear that a misguided decision will end this opportunity.

Other things you might want to know:

  • Each individual is limited to contributing 7 images a week to the photo pool.  This is done so no individual is able to control the whole slide show.
  • Flickr policy requires that you only post pictures you’ve taken. By adding pictures to this Flickr account, you also acknowledge that you have proper copyright authorization for publicity by Missouri S&T.
  • The RSS feed only provides the last 20 images contributed to the group so image rotation will be determined by how actively the students of Missouri S&T use this resource.
  • There is no charge for Flickr accounts.
  • If you click on an image in the slide show, it will bring you to that image on Flickr.
  • Images are not resized.  The image is centered on the top center of the slide show frame and anything that does not fit in the frame won't be seen.
  • Horizontal images display better than vertical images.  A horizontal image is wider than it is tall.  A vertical image is taller than it is wide.

Event Ads

The Current Students page has been set up to allow your campus organization to promote your events.  The rotating image banner on the page is free for student organizations to promote their ON CAMPUS events.  To utilize this service, send a .jpg image 240px x 240px and a url for additional information to emarcomm@mst.edu.  Please also send the date when you would like to have the ad stop running.
