may recieve a longer suspension upon review of his/her actions by the IMA
Executive Committee.
- Fighting is an automatic 2 game suspension. A longer suspension or expulsion
may result at the discretion of the Intramural Director.
Offsides
- A player is offside if he is nearer his opponents' goal line than the ball
at the moment the ball is played unless: 1) He is in his own half of the field
of play, 2) There are two of his opponents nearer to their own goal line than
he, 3) The ball was last touched or was played by an opponent, 4) He receives
the ball directly from a goal-kick, a corner-kick, a throw-in, or it is dropped
by the referee.
- One of the fundamentals to remember in connection with offside is the position
of the ball with respect to the player: 1) A player not ahead of the ball
in his offensive half of the field cannot be offside, 2) If a player is ahead
of the ball when it is last played by one of his own teammates, he must have
two opponents nearer to the opposing goal or endline, 3) A player cannot be
offside if he receives a ball from his opponent regardless of his position.
- A player once offside cannot put himself onside. He can become onside only:
1) If an opponent next plays the ball, 2) If he is behind the ball when it
is next played by his teammate, 3) If he has two opponents between him and
the endline or goal line when the ball is played by one of his teammates farther
from the opponents' end or goal line than himself.
- The ball rebounding off a goal post or crossbar does not put a player onside
who was offside when the ball was last played. A player cannot be offside
on the first play in the following instances: 1) When an opponent last played
the ball, 2) On a corner kick, 3) On a goal kick, 4) On a drop ball, 5) On
a throw-in.

He/she is permitted to move laterally (i.e. side to side) but shall not step
or lunge forward until the ball is kicked.
- The player taking the kick must kick the ball forward. He shall not play
the ball a second time until it has been touched by another player.
- The original kicker may not play the ball rebounding from the goal post
or crossbar until it has touched another player.
- All substitutions must take place at the mid-field area. The exiting
player must be off the field prior to the substitute entering the field. Both
teams may substitute an unlimited number of players on goal kicks, after a
goal is scored, at halftime, when a player is carded (yellow or red), or during
an injury. Only the team possessing the ball may sub on a corner or free kick.
